Jan 11, 2017 Rating Too much protein? by: Sue Southworth My parents had a Doxie who was also very picky about her food. They eventually did what you are doing. Things were fine until she got older when she began having kidney issues. I believe the vet told them the problems were probably due to too much protein which is hard on the kidneys.please discuss what you are doing with your vet! Just like humans, just because we like something doesn't necessarily mean we should eat it!! Good luck!

Jan 10, 2017 Rating you must be consistent by: Anonymous Put the food down for 10 minutes & if your dog refuses to eat it, pick it up & either throw it away or put in in the refrigerator. Do not offer it again until the next meal time. Repeat & repeat until your dog is trained to eat when you give it & what you give it. Otherwise the smart doxie is training you. Best to stick with one quality brand food & stay with it. Rachael Ray Nutrish Zero Grain Natural Dry Dog Food is what I always give my doxie. My son gives his doxies (4 of them) Nutro Natural Choice Dry dog food (chicken or lamb). He switches them every 3-4 months.

Jan 09, 2017 Rating DOG FOOD by: Jack I feed my two dachshunds Orjein dry dog food from Canada with some Salmon Oil added or Coconut Oil. Orjein is one of the few 5 Star rated food. 5 star being the highest.They like the Senior and Six Fish Orjein.

Jan 09, 2017 Rating Not eating kibble or canned food by: Mark Have you tried mixing a little kibble or canned food with the cooked chicken or the treats. To start with just add a tiny amount to the chicken and slowly add more until she gets used to the taste.
